The Regional Conference on Higher Education in Africa (CRESA) held in Dakar from 10 to 14 Nov., stressed the need to create a space for African higher education, giving the example of the African Virtual University (AVU), represented by 53 centers in 30 countries all Francophone, Anglophone and Lusophone.
The AVU, as his representative in Dakar Sidiki Traore noted, focuses on “Higher Education, Research and Innovation for Development in Africa”.

Digital Educational Resources: Plea for a production pan

ICT and development in Africa: The brakes of economic growth

The ICT sector faces many difficulties which slow down its development in Africa and particularly in the sub region, especially because there are no reliable studies and figures to help move forward. The participants attending the methodology and launching workshop of "liberalization of international trade in ICT services: issues for the private sector and implications for the implementation of public policies in West Africa (LICOM) widely deplored this situation.

Gambia becomes a member country of the PanAf project

The management team of the PanAf project was recently in Banjul to formalize the participation of the Gambia in this project.
This visit has helped meet the Gambian team of researchers and conduct a workshop on the research methodology and training on the use of the Observatory.

The management team was present at the University of Banjul on 10 and 11 November 2008 to launch the “Panafrican Research Agenda on the Pedagogical Integration of ICTs” in the Gambia and to meet the national team of researchers.

Microsoft provides 19 secondary schools with equipments in Cape Verde

Praia, Cape Verde - A total of 19 secondary schools of Cape Verde will receive equipment and software tailored to specific needs of education, through a partnership between the Government of Praia and the multinational Microsoft, said here, on Friday, official sources in the capital of Cape Verde.

Research seminar on ICTs and Education in Ouagadougou

A research seminar for the Ph.D. programme on the integration of information communication and technology (ICT) in education is taking place from 05 to 08 November 2008 at the CNF of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).
