The Pan African Research Agenda aims to “to better understand how the integration of ICT can improve the quality of teaching and learning in Africa.” During the first phase of the project a national research team collected information on the use of ICTs in teaching and learning in each of the following eleven countries: Ghana, Senegal, Central African Republic, Uganda, Mozambique, Mali, Kenya, Côte d’Ivoire, Congo, Cameroon and South Africa. US$12 million project for ICTs in West African universities

The Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, signed an agreement to launch a US$12 million project to boost the information and communication technology capacity of West African universities, notably by creating a regional virtual library network.
The agreement was signed with Soumaïla Cissé, President of the Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), which is providing the funds.

Dakar, Senegal - A statement from the Economic and Monetary Union of West Africa (UEMOA) has announced the forthcoming launching of a virtual library in member states. The agreement for this project will be signed on Friday in Paris by the President of the UEMOA Commission, Soumaila Cisse and CEO of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Irina Bokova, the statement said.
