ICT in teacher education: policy, open educational resources and partnership; proceedings of International Conference IITE-2010

The International Conference IITE-2010 “ICT in Teacher Educaiion: Policy, Open Educai onal Resources and Partnership” was organized by the UNESCO IITE and the UNESCO Moscow Offi ce in close cooperai on with the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentai on, State University of Informai on Technologies, Mechanics and Opi cs, and with support of CISCO. The Conference took place on 15–16 November 2010 in St. Petersburg, Russian Federai on. Over 120 pari cipants from more than 20 countries at ended the event. It became an intellectual plaf orm for open dialogue between policy makers, teachers, pracii oners, experts from public and private sectors, and representai ves of educai onal, scienifi c and professional insi tui ons and organizai ons.

The Conference pursued the following major goals: to introduce and disseminate the best praci ces in ICT applicai on in teachers educai on, discuss the main problems in ICT use in educai on, determine the next steps to be made to build the united informai onal and educai onal environment for ICT-based teachers’ educai on and professional development of the new generai on of teachers in the Knowledge Society. The quality of teachers, their professional improvement and training coni nue to be central to the provision of quality educai on. Applicai on of ICT, e-Learning and m-Learning, global informai onal and educai onal resources should contribute to the improvement of the current situai on in educai on.
